About John Petrucci
John Petrucci is an American guitarist and composer, born in 1967, and a founding member of the progressive-metal band Dream Theater. His work includes the band albums Images and Words and Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory, the instrumental project Liquid Tension Experiment, and the solo records Suspended Animation and Terminal Velocity.
John Petrucci performed with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai in the G3 concert series, including the filmed release G3: Live in Tokyo. He returned to G3 in 2018 for a tour featuring Satriani and Phil Collen, then mounted his first solo headlining tour in 2022. Those solo shows used a trio format: John Petrucci on guitar, Dave LaRue on bass and Mike Portnoy on drums.
