John Primer in San Diego

John Primer is an American singer and guitarist born in Camden, Mississippi, in 1945. A central figure in Chicago blues, he is known for his work with Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon and Magic Slim, as well as solo albums including The Real Deal and The Soul of a Blues Man. During the 1970s, he spent several years playing at Theresa’s Lounge on the city’s South Side. He later joined Willie Dixon’s Chicago Blues All-Stars and became a member of Muddy Waters’s band in 1981. After Muddy Waters died, John Primer joined Magic Slim and the Teardrops, later leading his own Real Deal Blues Band.
