Johnny Hallyday in Montbéliard

Johnny Hallyday was the stage name of Paris-born Jean-Philippe Léo Smet, a French rock-and-roll and pop singer, musician and actor. His first record appeared in 1960, and “Souvenirs, Souvenirs” brought his breakthrough. His recordings included the album Salut les Copains and the songs “Viens Danser le Twist,” “Quelque Chose de Tennessee” and “L’Envie.” He died in 2017. By 1961, Johnny Hallyday was headlining the Olympia and touring France. His later landmark concerts included Parc des Princes in 1993 and Stade de France in 1998. In 2000, he performed at the Eiffel Tower.
