Jojo Mayer & Nerve are an electronic-jazz group led by Swiss drummer Jojo Mayer and formed in the late 1990s. They are known for turning drum-and-bass and breakbeat patterns into improvisational ensemble music, using acoustic drums alongside electronic processing. Their releases include The Distance Between Zero and One and Ghosts of Tomorrow.

Prohibited Beatz, Mayer’s late-1990s party series in New York, provided the setting in which the group took shape through performances by DJs and musicians. Those appearances developed into a touring live format centered on Mayer’s drumming and real-time manipulation of the ensemble’s sound, and the group later held a long-running residency at Nublu in the East Village.
