Jorge Ben Jor in São Paulo

Jorge Ben Jor is a Brazilian singer-songwriter and guitarist, born in Rio de Janeiro in 1939, whose music spans samba, samba rock, funk and MPB. He introduced “Mas, que Nada!” on his debut album, Samba Esquema Novo, and his catalogue also includes “País Tropical,” “Chove Chuva,” “Taj Mahal” and the albums A Tábua de Esmeralda and África Brasil. A concert at the Olympia in Paris was documented on the 1975 live album Jorge Ben à l’Olympia. Decades later, the 2002 concert project Acústico MTV presented his songs in an acoustic band setting, while his festival appearances have included the Montreux Jazz Festival.
