Jorge Drexler in Miguel Hidalgo

Jorge Drexler is a Uruguayan singer-songwriter, born in Montevideo in 1964, whose music places Spanish-language songwriting within acoustic folk, pop and Latin American rhythms. His best-known works include “Al otro lado del río,” written for The Motorcycle Diaries and awarded the Academy Award for Best Original Song, as well as the albums Eco, Bailar en la cueva, Salvavidas de hielo and Tinta y tiempo. The Salvavidas de Hielo tour brought songs from that guitar-centered record to theatres across Spain and Latin America. He later expanded into arenas on the Tinta y Tiempo tour, including Madrid’s WiZink Center and Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires.
