About Josef Hader

Josef Hader is an Austrian cabaret performer, actor, screenwriter and director, born in 1962 in Waldhausen, Upper Austria. His German-language stage satire is built around character monologues and social observation. He co-wrote and starred in Indien, played Simon Brenner in the film series beginning with Komm, süßer Tod, and made his feature-directing debut with Wilde Maus.

The solo programme Privat premiered in 1994, followed by Hader muss weg in 2004 and the retrospective Hader spielt Hader in 2011. These theatre shows place Josef Hader alone onstage, moving between narration, dialogue and sharply differentiated characters. In 2021 he returned with another solo programme, Hader on Ice.
