Joseph Tawadros in Berkeley

Joseph Tawadros is an Egyptian-born Australian oud player and composer whose instrumental music is rooted in Arabic traditions and shaped by jazz and Western classical writing. His recorded work includes The Hour of Separation, World Music and Permission to Evaporate, and he has received multiple ARIA Awards for his albums. At the 2015 BBC Proms, Joseph Tawadros performed his Concerto of the Greater Sea at the Royal Albert Hall with the Australian Chamber Orchestra. He also gives solo and small-ensemble concerts, often joined by his brother, percussionist James Tawadros; their appearances have included the Sydney Opera House and WOMADelaide.
