Josh Ritter is an American singer-songwriter, born in Moscow, Idaho, in 1976, who writes folk and Americana songs built around narrative lyrics. His best-known work includes “Kathleen,” “Girl in the War” and “The Curse,” as well as the albums Hello Starling, The Animal Years and So Runs the World Away. Josh Ritter opened for Joan Baez on tour early in his career. The Royal City Band later became his regular touring ensemble, accompanying him in theatres and at events including the Newport Folk Festival. Dublin holds a distinct place in his concert history: the album and film In the Dark – Live at Vicar Street documented a 2006 performance there. Boston has also been central to his live work, including an appearance with the Boston Pops at Symphony Hall.
