Juan Luis Guerra is a Dominican singer, songwriter and bandleader, born in Santo Domingo in 1957. He performs merengue, bachata and salsa with his group 4.40. The album Bachata Rosa and songs including “Ojalá que llueva café,” “Burbujas de amor” and “La bilirrubina” are central to his catalogue. Juan Luis Guerra toured internationally behind A Son de Guerra on the A Son de Guerra World Tour. He followed it with the Todo Tiene Su Hora Tour and the Literal Tour, then returned to arenas on the Entre Mar y Palmeras Tour. His concerts are full-band performances built around vocals, guitar, percussion, brass and dance rhythms. He leads the ensemble as singer and guitarist, backed by the musicians of 4.40.
Carlos Vives is a Colombian singer, songwriter and actor, born in Santa Marta in 1961. He brought vallenato into a pop and rock setting on albums including Clásicos de la Provincia and La Tierra del Olvido; his best-known songs include “Fruta Fresca,” “Volví a Nacer” and “La Bicicleta,” recorded with Shakira. The Más + Corazón Profundo Tour reached arena audiences, followed by the Vives Tour in support of the album Vives. In 2023, El Tour de los 30 marked three decades since Clásicos de la Provincia through a career-spanning concert program. Carlos Vives performs with La Provincia, the band central to his live and recorded sound. Accordion, caja and guacharaca sit alongside guitars, bass, drums and brass in the concert arrangements. He has returned often to Bogotá and Miami, and has also performed in Chicago and Los Angeles on US tours.
