June McDoom in Stoke Newington

June McDoom is an American singer-songwriter and producer raised in South Florida in a Jamaican family. She writes intimate folk shaped by soul, psychedelia and dub. Her self-titled debut EP introduced songs including “The City” and “Stone After Stone,” and the companion release With Strings expanded her catalog with orchestral arrangements and traditional material. June McDoom’s NPR Tiny Desk Concert drew from both releases, pairing “Stone After Stone” and “The City” with her rendition of “Black Is the Color of My True Love’s Hair.” Recorded at NPR’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., the performance presented her songs in a small-ensemble setting.
