About Junoon
Junoon is a Pakistani rock band formed in Lahore in 1990 by guitarist Salman Ahmad. Its hard rock draws on Sufi poetry and qawwali, a sound heard on albums including Azadi and Parvaaz. The band is known for songs such as “Sayonee,” “Bulleya” and “Jazba-e-Junoon.”
In 2001, Junoon performed at the United Nations General Assembly Hall in New York. The band played a peace concert in Srinagar in 2008, and Salman Ahmad, Ali Azmat and Brian O’Connell reunited for a 2018 show at Moin Khan Academy in Karachi.
