Kai Schumacher is a German pianist and composer, born in 1979, whose work connects contemporary classical music with piano interpretations of alternative rock. He is known for recording Frederic Rzewski’s variation cycle The People United Will Never Be Defeated! and for releases including Transcriptions, Beauty in Simplicity and Rausch. Kai Schumacher has built solo recital programs around Rzewski’s cycle and later around the repertoire of Transcriptions and Rausch. He presents this material in concert halls, theatres and clubs, and has also performed at Klavier-Festival Ruhr.
