Artists
Kansas is an American progressive rock band formed in Topeka in 1973. Keyboards, violin, electric guitars and layered vocals shape its sound, heard on the albums Leftoverture and Point of Know Return and the songs “Carry On Wayward Son” and “Dust in the Wind.” Concert recordings from the band’s 1977 and 1978 tours became the double live album Two for the Show. Kansas later presented complete albums in concert, launching the Leftoverture 40th Anniversary Tour in 2016 and following it with the Point of Know Return Anniversary Tour.
Starship is an American pop-rock band that emerged in San Francisco from Jefferson Starship in the mid-1980s. Its best-known recordings include “We Built This City,” “Sara” and “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now,” along with the albums Knee Deep in the Hoopla and No Protection. Grace Slick was among the lead vocalists at the band’s mid-1980s concerts, when Starship played arenas and theatres behind its first two albums. After the original group disbanded, a new touring lineup was assembled in the early 1990s. That version performs at theatres, casinos and festivals across the United States under the name Starship featuring Mickey Thomas.
