Karan Casey is an Irish folk singer from County Waterford, known for her clear interpretations of traditional songs and contemporary writing. She was the original lead vocalist of the Irish-American group Solas and later built a solo catalogue that includes Songlines, The Winds Begin to Sing and Exiles Return, recorded with guitarist John Doyle.

In the 1990s, Karan Casey toured with Solas before concentrating on concerts under her own name. Her later live work included duo performances with John Doyle as well as appearances at Glastonbury Festival and Cambridge Folk Festival.
