Karel Plíhal is a Czech singer-songwriter and guitarist, born in Přerov in 1958. His acoustic folk songs pair concise melodies with wordplay and dry humour; his best-known work includes “Ráda se miluje,” “Nosorožec” and the albums Kluziště and Nebe počká. Karel Plíhal has long presented his songs in intimate theatre recitals, interspersing them with short poems and spoken introductions. The concert recording Karel Plíhal v Olomouci documents this format, while later recitals have featured guitarist Petr Fiala as his accompanist.
