Kate Ryan in Berlin

Kate Ryan is a Belgian dance-pop singer born in Tessenderlo in 1980. She became known for electronic versions of French-language pop songs, led by Mylène Farmer’s “Désenchantée” and “Libertine,” as well as her recording of France Gall’s “Ella, elle l’a.” Her debut album, Different, also established the mix of club production and pop vocals that runs through her work. In 2006, Kate Ryan won Belgium’s televised Eurosong selection by performing “Je t’adore.” The result took her to the Eurovision Song Contest, where she represented Belgium in the semifinal in Athens.
