KC & The Sunshine Band in Rancho Mirage

KC & The Sunshine Band is an American disco and funk group formed in 1973 in Hialeah, Florida, by Harry Wayne Casey and Richard Finch. The band became known for dance records including “Get Down Tonight,” “That’s the Way (I Like It),” “(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty,” “Boogie Shoes” and “Please Don’t Go.” Harry Wayne Casey re-formed the group in 1991 and resumed touring in theatres, casino showrooms and at outdoor festivals. The touring show is performed by a full band, including a horn section and multiple vocalists. In 2019, the group appeared on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival.

Village People are an American disco group formed in New York City in 1977 around a concept created by producer Jacques Morali. Their singers appear as characters including a police officer, construction worker, cowboy and Native American. They are known for “Y.M.C.A.,” “Macho Man,” “In the Navy” and “Go West.” In 1979, Village People released the double album Live and Sleazy, pairing concert recordings with studio material. They later performed at Glastonbury Festival in 2013, and on New Year’s Eve 2019 they led the “Y.M.C.A.” dance during the celebration in Times Square.
