King Stingray are an Australian rock band formed in 2020 in Yirrkala, Northeast Arnhem Land. They call their music Yolŋu surf rock: guitar-led songs sung in English and Yolŋu Matha, including “Milkumana,” “Get Me Out” and “Camp Dog.” Their self-titled debut album established that sound across a full-length record. The 2022 Resist tour placed the band in support of Midnight Oil, followed by their own Australian headline dates behind the debut album. In 2023 they opened for King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard at the Hollywood Bowl. King Stingray perform as a full band, bringing electric guitars, bass and drums together with yidaki and Yolŋu singing. Glastonbury hosted the band in 2023 after an Australian festival run that included Splendour in the Grass.
