Artist
Kings of Convenience are a Norwegian indie-folk duo formed in Bergen in 1999 by Erlend Øye and Eirik Glambek Bøe. Their quiet acoustic arrangements and close harmonies became known through the albums Quiet Is the New Loud, Riot on an Empty Street and Declaration of Dependence, as well as songs including “Misread,” “I’d Rather Dance with You” and “Mrs. Cold.” They returned with Peace or Love after a long interval between studio albums. After Quiet Is the New Loud, the duo toured Europe and North America, and later concert runs followed Riot on an Empty Street and Declaration of Dependence. Shows connected to Peace or Love brought them back to theatres, concert halls and festivals. The core concert format centres on two voices and acoustic guitars, while additional musicians join selected arrangements. The close two-part singing remains the foundation of performances by Erlend Øye and Eirik Glambek Bøe.
