Artists
Kontravoid is a Canadian electronic project formed in Toronto by Cameron Findlay in 2010. Its cold synth-pop, EBM and industrial sound is heard on the self-titled debut, Too Deep and tracks including “Turn Away” and “Faceless.” Findlay’s stark white mask is a central part of the project’s visual identity. Kontravoid has toured North America in support of Boy Harsher and has taken the project through clubs across Europe. Findlay presents the material as a solo electronic performance built around vocals, synthesizers and programmed rhythms. Festival appearances have included Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig and Grauzone in The Hague, placing Kontravoid on major darkwave and post-punk programs outside Toronto.
Buzz Kull is an Australian darkwave and post-punk project led by Sydney musician Marc Dwyer. Begun in 2012, the project works in coldwave, minimal synth and EBM, and is known for the albums Chroma , New Kind of Cross and Fascination . Australian club shows came first for Buzz Kull, followed by overseas dates as the records reached darkwave and minimal-synth audiences in Europe and North America. Dwyer performs Buzz Kull as a solo electronic set built around vocals, synthesizers and drum-machine parts, and songs from New Kind of Cross and Fascination sit at the center of the live set.
