Korpiklaani in Ottawa

Korpiklaani are a Finnish folk-metal band formed in 2003 after frontman Jonne Järvelä’s earlier group Shaman changed its name and musical direction. Their metal arrangements draw on Finnish folk music and humppa rhythms, with violin and accordion central to songs such as “Vodka,” “Beer Beer” and “Happy Little Boozer.” Albums including Voice of Wilderness, Tales Along This Road and Korven Kuningas established that approach. The 2008 European Paganfest tour put Korpiklaani on the road with Ensiferum, Moonsorrow, Eluveitie and Týr. Later itineraries combined headline club tours in Europe and North America with appearances at Wacken Open Air in Germany and Hellfest in France.
