Kristine Leschper is an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and visual artist who formed Mothers in Athens, Georgia. Her work moves between art pop and indie rock; Mothers released the albums When You Walk a Long Distance You Are Tired and Render Another Ugly Method, while her first album under her own name was The Opening, or Closing of a Door.

Mothers took the songs from When You Walk a Long Distance You Are Tired on tours through North America and Europe, playing clubs and festivals. The band's 2016 itinerary included SXSW in Austin.
