Kumbia Queers in Barcelona

Kumbia Queers are an Argentine band formed in Buenos Aires in 2007. They play cumbia punk, which they call tropipunk, and first became known through Kumbia Nena!, an album that recast punk and pop songs as cumbia. Their original repertoire developed further on albums including La gran estafa del tropipunk and Pecados tropicales. Soon after forming, Kumbia Queers took their live set to Mexico, followed by touring in North America and Europe. They perform as a full band, using cumbia rhythms, keyboards and percussion alongside electric guitars and punk vocals. Later European dates included Germany’s Fusion Festival and the SO36 club in Berlin.
