Angelica Maria in Querétaro City

Angélica María is a Mexican-American singer and actress, born in New Orleans in 1944 and raised in Mexico City. After beginning as a child performer in Mexican cinema, she became a leading Spanish-language pop and rock-and-roll singer of the 1960s, earning the nickname “La novia de México.” Her best-known songs include “Eddy Eddy,” “Johnny, el enojón” and “El hombre de mi vida.” In the concert production Juntos por última vez, she performed at Auditorio Nacional alongside Enrique Guzmán, César Costa and Alberto Vázquez. She later toured the mother-and-daughter production Las Angélicas Show with Angélica Vale.
