About La Vela Puerca
La Vela Puerca is a Uruguayan ska-rock band formed in Montevideo in 1995. Its horn-driven rock, punk and murga rhythms are heard across albums including De bichos y flores, A contraluz and El impulso, while “El viejo,” “Zafar” and “Va a escampar” became central songs in its catalogue.
The concert release Uno para todos documented the band’s performance at Luna Park in Buenos Aires. La Vela Puerca later marked its 20th anniversary at the Velódromo Municipal, preserving the occasion in the film and live album Festejar para sobrevivir and returning its live story to Montevideo.
