Laboratorium Pieśni in Bratislava

Laboratorium Pieśni is a Polish seven-woman vocal ensemble formed in Gdańsk in 2013. The group performs traditional polyphonic songs from Eastern Europe, the Balkans and Scandinavia, using the open-throated technique often called white voice. Its repertoire includes the Belarusian song “Sztoj pa moru,” while albums such as Rosna and Rasti document its contemporary arrangements of folk material. Laboratorium Pieśni performs in close vocal harmony, supported by frame drums and other hand percussion, and also conducts workshops devoted to traditional singing. Its concerts and vocal workshops have taken the ensemble outside Europe, including appearances in the United States, Japan and India.
