Laima Vaikule in Tallinn

Laima Vaikule is a Latvian pop singer, born in Cēsis in 1954, whose repertoire bridges Soviet estrada and contemporary pop. She is known for songs including “Eshchyo ne vecher,” “Skripach na kryshe” and “Vernisazh,” a duet with Valery Leontiev, and for her work with composer Raimonds Pauls and lyricist Ilya Reznik. In the late 1970s, she performed at the Jūras Pērle variety venue in Jūrmala. In 2015, she launched Laima Rendezvous Jūrmala, a recurring music festival held at Dzintari Concert Hall.
