Larry Carlton is an American guitarist, born in Torrance, California, in 1948, whose work spans jazz fusion, blues and rock. He played with the Crusaders and became a sought-after studio musician, recording with Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell and many others. His solo on Steely Dan’s “Kid Charlemagne,” the instrumental “Room 335” and the album of the same name are central parts of his catalogue.

Last Nite documented his 1986 performances at the Baked Potato in Los Angeles. He later toured with Steve Lukather, and recordings made at Blue Note Osaka became the live album No Substitutions: Live in Osaka. The concert film The Paris Concert captured his band at New Morning in 2008.
