Artist
Leftfield is a British electronic act formed in London in 1989, known for dance music rooted in house, dub and techno. Neil Barnes and Paul Daley made the group’s best-known 1990s recordings, including the albums Leftism and Rhythm and Stealth. Their signature tracks include “Open Up” featuring John Lydon, “Release the Pressure” and “Afrika Shox” featuring Afrika Bambaataa. A 1996 performance at Brixton Academy became part of Leftfield’s live history after the volume loosened plaster from the venue’s ceiling. Barnes revived the act for performances in 2010, including RockNess, and later marked the debut album’s anniversary by playing it in full on the Leftism 22 Tour.
