Lene Lovich in Manchester

Lene Lovich is an American-British new wave singer and songwriter, born in Detroit in 1949 and raised partly in England. Her theatrical vocal style became widely known through “Lucky Number” and the debut album Stateless; her catalogue also includes “Say When,” “Bird Song” and the Thomas Dolby-penned “New Toy.” Lovich joined Stiff Records’ Be Stiff Route 78 tour in 1978, performing alongside labelmates Wreckless Eric and Rachel Sweet. In 2012 she formed the Lene Lovich Band, which later performed at Rebellion Festival in Blackpool. In 2019 the group took the debut album back on the road for the Stateless 40th Anniversary Tour.
