About Light Asylum
Light Asylum is an American darkwave and synth-pop project formed in Brooklyn by vocalist Shannon Funchess and synthesist Bruno Coviello. The project became known through the EP In Tension, the self-titled album Light Asylum, and songs including “Dark Allies” and “Shallow Tears.”
Light Asylum has performed at Primavera Sound in Barcelona and Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig, bringing its electronic live set to both independent-music and goth festival audiences. The performance centers on Funchess’s lead vocal over synthesizers and electronic percussion, a format also documented in the project’s session for KEXP in Seattle.
