Lindisfarne in Newcastle upon Tyne

Lindisfarne are a British folk-rock band formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1968. Their best-known recordings include “Lady Eleanor,” “Meet Me on the Corner,” “Fog on the Tyne” and “Run for Home,” while the albums Nicely Out of Tune and Fog on the Tyne established their mix of acoustic folk, rock and close vocal harmonies. A 1976 Christmas concert at Newcastle City Hall reunited the original five members and led to a formal return. The following year’s Christmas shows were recorded for the live album Magic in the Air. Later line-ups have continued the band’s theatre tours and seasonal concert tradition, including performances at Sage Gateshead.
