Lizz Wright is an American singer and songwriter, born in 1980 in Hahira, Georgia, who performs jazz, gospel-rooted soul, blues and folk in a low contralto. She is known for albums including Salt, Dreaming Wide Awake, Fellowship, Grace and Shadow. The Sing the Truth! concert project brought her onstage with Dianne Reeves and Angélique Kidjo for a program built around Nina Simone’s music. In 2018, Wright recorded a concert at Columbia Theater in Berlin that was later released as the live album Holding Space. She has sung at Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland and at North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam.
