About Lizzo
Lizzo is an American singer, rapper and flutist born Melissa Jefferson in Detroit in 1988. Raised in Houston, she later established her music career in Minneapolis. The album Cuz I Love You and songs including “Truth Hurts,” “Good as Hell” and “Juice” brought her a broad pop audience; “About Damn Time” became a central track on Special.
The Cuz I Love You Tour and the Cuz I Love You Too Tour took her through theatres in 2019, the same year she performed at Glastonbury. She played arenas on The Special Tour in 2022 and 2023; the concert film Lizzo: Live in Concert was recorded at the Kia Forum in Inglewood during that run.
Lizzo performs as a singer, rapper and flutist backed by a full band and the Big Grrrls dance troupe, and she often introduces her flute as Sasha Flute. Latto opened the tour’s first North American leg.
