Artist
London Symphony Orchestra is a British symphony orchestra founded in 1904 by a group of musicians who established a self-governing ensemble. Its recordings cover symphonic repertoire, opera and film music, and it reached audiences beyond the concert hall through John Williams’s scores for Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark. In 1906, the orchestra gave its first concert abroad in Paris; its 1912 visit to the United States was the first American tour by a British orchestra. It became resident orchestra at the Barbican Centre when the venue opened in 1982 and has also appeared repeatedly at the BBC Proms in the Royal Albert Hall.
