Loreena McKennitt in Frankfurt am Main

Loreena McKennitt is a Canadian singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist, born in Morden, Manitoba, in 1957. She plays folk and world music rooted in Celtic traditions, and is known for albums including The Visit, The Mask and Mirror and The Book of Secrets, which features “The Mummers’ Dance.” In 2006, Loreena McKennitt performed in the courtyard of the Palace of Charles V at the Alhambra in Granada; the concerts were filmed and released as Nights from the Alhambra. The Lost Souls Tour included a 2019 concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London, later issued as a live album. The Visit Revisited Tour subsequently presented her 1991 album in full alongside selections from elsewhere in her catalogue. Her concerts are ensemble performances in which she sings and moves among harp, piano and accordion. Her longstanding touring musicians have included guitarist Brian Hughes, cellist Caroline Lavelle and violinist Hugh Marsh.
