Los Pacaminos & Paul Young in Shrewsbury

Los Pacaminos are a British Tex-Mex band formed in London in 1992 by Paul Young and fellow musicians. They play Tejano, country and rock and roll rooted in the music of the Texas-Mexico border. Their records include the self-titled album Los Pacaminos and A Fistful of Statins. Los Pacaminos have toured pubs, clubs and theatres around Britain since the 1990s. The band has repeatedly returned to The Half Moon in Putney and has also performed at Fairport’s Cropredy Convention. Their concerts feature a full band playing guitars, accordion and pedal steel, while lead vocals are shared among members including Paul Young.

Paul Young is an English pop and soul singer, born in Luton in 1956. After fronting Q-Tips, he established a solo career with the album No Parlez and songs including “Wherever I Lay My Hat (That’s My Home),” “Come Back and Stay” and “Every Time You Go Away.” In 1985, he performed at Live Aid at Wembley Stadium. Seven years later, he appeared at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert there and sang “Radio Ga Ga” with the surviving members of Queen. He also co-founded the Tex-Mex band Los Pacaminos and has performed with the group alongside his solo concerts.
