Los Pirañas in London

Los Pirañas are a Colombian instrumental trio formed in Bogotá by guitarist Eblis Álvarez, bassist Mario Galeano and drummer Pedro Ojeda. Their music draws on cumbia, chicha and psychedelic rock, reshaping tropical rhythms through distorted guitar and an experimental approach heard on albums including Toma Tu Jabón Kapax, Historia Natural and Infame Golpazo en Keroxen. In 2017, the trio performed a Tiny Desk Concert at NPR’s Washington, D.C. office in its core guitar, bass and drums format. International touring has also taken Los Pirañas to WOMAD and Denmark’s Roskilde Festival.
