Artist
Loudon Wainwright III is an American folk singer-songwriter, born in Chapel Hill in 1946. His writing combines autobiography and dry comedy, and he is known for songs including “Dead Skunk” and “The Swimming Song.” His album High Wide & Handsome: The Charlie Poole Project won a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Folk Album. Since the early 1970s, Loudon Wainwright III has toured folk clubs, theatres and festivals as a solo performer, singing and accompanying himself on acoustic guitar or banjo. He later developed Surviving Twin, a stage work combining songs and spoken passages about his relationship with his father, the writer Loudon Wainwright Jr.
