Luka Bloom in Heerlen

Luka Bloom is an Irish singer-songwriter and guitarist, born Kevin Barry Moore in Newbridge, County Kildare, in 1955. His folk-rooted songs and rhythmic acoustic playing became widely associated with albums including Riverside and The Acoustic Motorbike. His best-known work includes “The City of Chicago,” “Exploring the Blue” and an acoustic interpretation of LL Cool J’s “I Need Love.” After moving to New York in the late 1980s, he established the Luka Bloom name through solo club performances. He later toured theatres and festivals in Europe, North America and Australia, usually performing with his voice and amplified acoustic guitar. The live album Amsterdam documents that solo concert format.
