Maiden United is a Dutch acoustic rock band formed by bassist Joey Bruers in 2006 to reinterpret the music of Iron Maiden. The debut album Mind the Acoustic Pieces recast Piece of Mind in full, while Across the Seventh Sea and Remembrance extended the project across other parts of the heavy-metal band's catalogue. The project first performed at a Dutch Iron Maiden fan-club convention in 2006. Maiden United subsequently toured European clubs and theatres, developing those acoustic arrangements into a sustained live repertoire. Maiden United performs as an ensemble using acoustic guitars, piano, cello, percussion and vocals to reshape familiar heavy-metal compositions. Festival appearances have included Wacken Open Air in Germany and Download Festival in England.
