Mama's Broke in Santa Cruz

Mama's Broke is a Canadian folk duo formed in 2014 by Amy Lou Keeler and Lisa Maria Bates. Their close vocal harmonies and arrangements for fiddle, banjo, guitar and mandolin draw on old-time music, bluegrass and traditional ballads. Their albums include Count the Wicked and Narrow Line, the latter featuring “How It Ends” and “Between the Briar & the Rose.” The duo have toured clubs, theatres and folk festivals across North America and Europe, performing as a two-person ensemble and changing instruments throughout the set. Their festival history includes the Winnipeg Folk Festival and Cambridge Folk Festival, and they presented the same close-harmony format for an NPR Tiny Desk Concert.
