Mammal Hands in Leverkusen

Mammal Hands are a British instrumental trio formed in Norwich in 2012. Saxophone, piano, drums and tabla shape their modern jazz, which draws on minimalism, ambient music and repeating rhythmic patterns. Their catalogue on Gondwana Records includes the albums Animalia, Floa, Shadow Work, Captured Spirits and Gift from the Trees. An appearance at Montreux Jazz Festival was followed by a performance at Gondwana Records’ tenth-anniversary concert at the Roundhouse in London in 2018. Their concerts retain the trio’s core instrumental setup: Jordan Smart on saxophones, Nick Smart on piano and Jesse Barrett on drums and tabla.
