Mannheim Steamroller in Waukegan

Mannheim Steamroller is an American instrumental ensemble founded in Omaha in 1974 by composer and percussionist Chip Davis. Its music uses synthesizers, rock rhythms and classical forms. The Fresh Aire album series and Mannheim Steamroller Christmas established its best-known repertoire, including arrangements of “Deck the Halls” and “Carol of the Bells.” In 1984, the ensemble began its annual Christmas concert tour, which developed into its central live tradition. Keyboards, woodwinds, strings, bass and percussion carry the seasonal arrangements in theatres and performing-arts centres. Two separate touring ensembles were later formed to perform simultaneously in different parts of the United States.
