Margaret Glaspy is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist born in Sacramento in 1989 and raised in Red Bluff, California. Her guitar-led indie rock first reached a wide audience through the album Emotions and Math and songs including “You and I” and its title track; later records include Devotion and Echo the Diamond. In 2016, she performed songs from Emotions and Math as a trio at NPR’s Tiny Desk, then brought the album to Newport Folk Festival.
Anna Tivel is an American singer-songwriter from the Pacific Northwest who is based in Portland, Oregon. She writes indie folk built around detailed character studies and narrative lyrics; her catalog includes the albums The Question, Outsiders and Living Thing. In 2019, Anna Tivel performed songs from The Question for NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert in a compact acoustic ensemble. She continues to play clubs and listening rooms, and her live work has included joint tours with fellow Oregon songwriter Jeffrey Martin.
