Marina Herlop in Porto

Marina Herlop is a Spanish singer, composer and pianist who makes experimental pop and electronic music. Her albums Nanook and Babasha introduced her piano-led writing, while Pripyat and Nekkuja brought layered voices, intricate rhythms and techniques drawn from Carnatic music into her work. She performed material from Pripyat at Sónar in Barcelona, translating its interlocking vocal and electronic arrangements to the festival stage. Her later NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert drew on Nekkuja and centered on voice, keyboards and hand percussion in Washington, D.C.
