Artist
Martin Barre is an English rock guitarist, born in Birmingham in 1946 and best known for his work with Jethro Tull. He was the band’s guitarist from 1968 to 2011, playing on albums including Stand Up, Aqualung, Thick as a Brick and Songs from the Wood. His guitar part and solo on “Aqualung” are central to his recorded legacy. Martin Barre performed with Jethro Tull at the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970. Eight years later he played the group’s Madison Square Garden concert, broadcast live by satellite, and remained part of its touring lineup for the following decades. After his final shows with the band in 2011, he took his own group on the road through theatres and clubs. The Martin Barre Band is a full rock group centered on his electric guitar. Its sets combine his solo catalogue with music he recorded as a member of Jethro Tull.
