Artist
Maustetytöt are a Finnish indie-pop duo formed in 2017 by sisters Anna and Kaisa Karjalainen. Their music pairs guitar, synthesizers and a drum machine with laconic songs about disappointment and everyday life. They became known through “Tein kai lottorivini väärin” and the album Kaikki tiet vievät Peltolaan. The duo also performed “Syntynyt suruun ja puettu pettymyksin” in Aki Kaurismäki’s film Fallen Leaves. Maustetytöt perform as a two-piece: Kaisa sings and plays guitar, while Anna plays keyboards and operates the drum machine. They have presented this setup at Flow Festival in Helsinki and at Denmark’s Roskilde Festival.
