MC Solaar in Boulogne-Billancourt

MC Solaar is a French rapper born Claude M’Barali in Dakar in 1969 and raised in the Paris region. His literate, jazz-minded approach to hip-hop became widely known through “Bouge de là,” “Caroline” and “Nouveau Western,” as well as the albums Qui sème le vent récolte le tempo and Prose Combat. In 1991, he opened for De La Soul at the Olympia in Paris, then carried his French-language repertoire into international touring through the 1990s.
